PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Commissioned for the Montgomery Gateway Apartments in Jersey City, this large-scale exterior mural by Emilio Florentine transforms a blank stucco façade into a vibrant expression of color, movement, and optimism. Drawing inspiration from the resilience of nature, the composition layers oversized tropical florals, lush foliage, and sweeping organic forms that bring warmth and energy to the surrounding streetscape.
Emilio's work is founded on the idea that beauty often emerges from moments of uncertainty and even chaos. Rather than depicting nature as still or idyllic, he captures it in motion. The resulting mural is meant to be immersive and uplifting, inviting residents and visitors to slow down, look closer, and experience the neighborhood in a new way. Every detail was created by hand on-site, turning the installation itself into a moment of public engagement as the artwork took shape over several weeks.
More than a work of public art, the mural establishes a new visual identity for Montgomery Gateway that was inspired by the residents themselves.
