Seeking Artwork for the 2027 Ellington Room Art Exhibition and the 2026 Food & Art Festival Slideshow
Curatorial Theme:Work inspired by Manhattan Plaza
Manhattan Plaza is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for resident artists to share their creativity and artistic vision with the community. As we prepare to celebrate the 50th anniversary of welcoming our first residents in 1977, we invite artists to help commemorate this historic milestone through their work.
Artists are invited to submit work inspired by Manhattan Plaza. This may include personal experiences living at Manhattan Plaza, the people and community, views from the building, or observations of the neighborhood and everyday life. The theme is intentionally open to encourage a wide range of personal interpretations and artistic approaches.
Deadline: September 14, 2026
Your submitted artwork(s) will be included in the 2026 Food & Art Festival slideshow, provided all submission requirements are met.
Twenty selected artworks will be professionally reproduced, framed, and exhibited in the Ellington Room from January through December 2027.
SELECTION PROCESS
2026 Food & Art Festival
Artists may submit up to three pieces of artwork for consideration.
All submissions will be included in the 2026 Food & Art Festival as part of a video presentation, which will be shown in the Ellington Room for one year.

2027 Ellington Room Art Exhibition
From the same pool, twenty artworks will be selected for the Ellington Room exhibition.
The twenty selected works will be reproduced as giclée prints (no larger than 20” x 20”), framed, and displayed on the walls of the Ellington Room for one year.
If you do not already have a high-resolution digital file, you will be asked to bring the original artwork to a photoshoot at Manhattan Plaza. This session will be used to create a file for one-time print production, unless you are able to provide a suitable high-resolution file in advance.
Details about the photoshoot logistics will be shared after the final selections are made.
GENERAL RULES AND REQUIREMENTS
2026 Food & Art Festival & 2027 Ellington Room Art Exhibition
Submissions from artists working in all mediums are welcome.
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
All submitted works must be original and created by the applicant.
You do not need to create new work for this open call. Submissions may be from any point in your artistic career.
Artwork must not include nudity or any content that promotes violence or discrimination.
Please ensure each work has a clear and proper title.
No compensation will be provided for participation in this open call or the exhibitions.
Applicable for 2027 Ellington Room Art Exhibition Only
We will use high resolution file(s) to produce a SINGLE REPRODUCTION of the original for the purpose of the exhibition.
If available, artists may offer a high-resolution file(s) of the selected artwork that will be used to create a single 2-dimensional reproduction of the artwork for the sole purpose of exhibiting in Manhattan Plaza at the dimensions no larger than 20″x20″ in image size”.
If you do not have a high resolution file, Artrepreneur will hire a photographer. Artrepreneur will arrange a photo shoot at Manhattan Plaza on a set date. [Location, date, and time to be announced.]
The reproduction(s) used for the exhibition will be offered to the artist upon the deinstall of the exhibition.
