Bi-Annual Ellington Room Art Exhibition

Announcing a fantastic opportunity to share your creative expression with fellow residents!

 

DEADLINE : April 15, 2024

We are thrilled to announce the first-ever Open Call to all the artists of Manhattan Plaza. To celebrate the vast artistic talent of Manhattan Plaza residents, the art exhibition will be held in the historical Ellington Room this coming summer and rotated two times a year in July and December. As an additional treat, we will be debuting a wonderful video production featuring the portraits of honored residents of the past who are currently displayed in the room.

We welcome all forms of visual art, including paintings, drawings, photographs, and digital art. 

SELECTION PROCESS

  • Artists can submit up to three pieces of artwork for consideration.

  • Sixteen works will be selected for each exhibition.

  • Chosen artworks will be reproduced no larger than a 20”x20” giclée print, framed, and displayed on the room’s walls for approximately 6-months.

  • Artists will be asked to bring the chosen artwork to a photoshoot to take place at Manhattan Plaza.

  • The photo session will be required to create a file for the one-time print production, unless the artist is able to provide a high-resolution file already available. Details of the photo shoot logistics will be announced at a later date after the works have been selected.

GENERAL RULES AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Submissions from artists in every category will be accepted.

  • Applicants must be 18 years or older.

  • Submissions must be created by the applicant.

  • You DO NOT need to create new works for this Open Call. You may have created submissions at any point during your artistic career.

  • Please ensure each work has a proper title.

  • We will use high resolution file(s) to produce a SINGLE REPRODUCTION of the original for the purpose of the exhibition.

  • If available, artists may offer a high-resolution file(s) of the selected artwork that will be used to create a single 2-dimensional reproduction of the artwork for the sole purpose of exhibiting in Manhattan Plaza at the dimensions no larger than 20″x20″ in image size”.

  • If you do not have a high resolution file, Artrepreneur will hire a photographer. Artrepreneur will arrange a photo shoot at Manhattan Plaza on a set date. [Location, date, and time to be announced.]

  • The reproduction(s) used for the exhibition will be offered to the artist upon the deinstall of the exhibition.

  • No compensation will be paid for participation in this open call.
