PROJECT BRIEF
Installed on a 180-degree curved wall at Hudson Yards in New York City, the mural features Queen Andrea’s signature graffiti-inspired typography and vibrant color palette. With linear rainbow elements and a bold “Welcome to Hudson Yards” message, the design draws from vintage postcard aesthetics while reflecting the vertical energy of the surrounding architecture. Completed in 2025, it has quickly become a recognized public art landmark in the area.

Artist Statement
For this mural, I chose an extremely bold and loud arrangement of color, the kind of energy that feels like New York, a city that I’ve been deeply connected to for my entire life. It’s always an honor for me to be commissioned to paint in areas of Manhattan that were a backyard for me as a young aspiring artist, areas which now include walls that are canvases for me to return the enthusiasm, motivation and gusto that the city has instilled in me. With every brush stroke, I feel proud and grateful to contribute my artistic vision to the city that constantly inspires me with it's diversity, it's fast pace and sense of endless possibility. As fellow New Yorkers pass me while I paint, I sometimes reflect on our common, unique urban experience and I revel in the opportunity to share my artwork with the communities that I love, creating uplifting moments of artistic respite while people travel through their hectic daily lives.
This mural bursts with a 21-color spectrum, laid out in diagonal stripes that repeat three times, in hues ranging from tropical turquoises to deep blues to whimsical purples to bright yellows, punchy pinks and oranges. My "Welcome to Hudson Yards" stylized lettering is bold and in-your-face, because there’s nothing subtle about aspects of New York City and the striking architecture of midtown. My lettering sits between two cityscape silhouettes that highlight Hudson Yards' buildings and I painted smaller "HYNY" letters enclosed in large, friendly hearts. I knew that the wall’s 180-degree curve would make the colors shift and come alive from different angles, whether you’re walking by on the sidewalk or driving down 11th Avenue, it’s hard to miss my joyful color spectrum that stands out from the surrounding architecture. I wanted it to be impossible to ignore, a splash of joy amid all the steel and glass.
My goal with this mural was to create a vividly colorful eye candy oasis that truly celebrates this incredible city and reminds people that Hudson Yards is a beautiful destination within an even larger and extraordinary urban story.
