PROJECT DESCRIPTION
An ode to the healing power of joy and community pride, artist Cedric Michael Cox mixes local history with bold abstracts to create this loving tribute to the people of the local town. Geometric interplay and rectangular patterns reflect the architectural diversity of the region while powerful symbols also come into play: Cincinnati has a rich history rooted in the abolitionist movement, and the artist heralds the original significance of the north star while reminding us of how far we have come. Cox also uses an elaborate interplay of color to lend a stained-glass quality, reflecting the many spiritual institutions and suggesting that home is also a sacred space.
