About The Artist
Based in West Sussex on the South Coast of England, Michael Bishop paints dreamlike landscapes combining real and imaginary elements. His style has been described as ‘mannered surrealism’. During the 1990s lived in New York for five years during which time he illustrated The Secret Garden and exhibited at The Metropolitan Opera house. On returning to London he was commissioned to produce a poster ‘Downtown to Soho’ for London Transport’s Art on the Underground series. His work has been widely exhibited, including at Francis Kyle Gallery and Highgate Contemporary London, and is in many private collections worldwide.
